THE MORNING CALL TO PLAY BALL AS
FOUNDING PARTNER FOR LEHIGH VALLEY IRONPIGS

(Lehigh Valley, PA) The Morning Call announced Tuesday, July 24, that it has become a Founding Partner of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The announcement was made jointly with IronPigs officials during a news conference at the Allentown Arts Park. The event was attended by employees of The Morning Call and guests from the community, including representatives of city and county government. Details of the long-term, multi-year agreement were not disclosed.
The Morning Call is the only newspaper to sign a Founding Partner agreement with the IronPigs. The Morning Call will have exclusive rights to sell and distribute newspapers in Coca-Cola Park.
“The Morning Call is the premier source of local news and information in print and online for adults in the Greater Lehigh Valley,” said Tim Kennedy, Publisher of The Morning Call. “We’re proud to partner with the premier sports initiative in our community. We’ve been covering the IronPigs story from the beginning, in print and online. Today, we’re part of the story. The IronPigs will enhance the quality of life here and provide a wonderful family-oriented activity for Valley residents. We’re proud to play a part in making that possible. Most importantly, we’re looking forward to partnering with the IronPigs in promoting some exciting events at Coca-Cola Park.”
“By joining us as a Founding Partner, The Morning Call and the IronPigs have made a joint commitment to each other’s business and community goals,” stated IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. “We’re thrilled to be associated with another quality organization dedicated to improving the Lehigh Valley’s overall quality of life and entertainment landscape.”
Although full details of the agreement were not disclosed, The Morning Call announced that it will sponsor The Morning Call Home Run Inning during every IronPigs home game. If a home run is hit during that inning, someone attending the game will have an opportunity win a cash prize. The Morning Call also will sponsor the reporting of league scores during game broadcasts.
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will begin playing their home games at Coca-Cola Park in April 2008.  Construction of the $48 million facility started in September 2006 and is scheduled for completion by February 2008. The park was designed by HOK Sport Architects, the same firm that designed Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Jacobs Field in Cleveland and Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The Lehigh Valley has not had a major league-affiliated baseball team since 1960. For more information: www.ironpigsbaseball.com.
