Phillies Triple-A Squad Drops First Spring Game

PHILS TRIPLE-A SQUAD SUFFERS FIRST SPRING LOSS
The Phillies' Triple-A Spring Training squad suffered its first defeat on Sunday, a 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays' Triple-A team in Dunedin. The team had started the exhibition season with three consecutive victories.
The Blue Jays' team broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off of reliever Scott Nestor (L, 2.0 ip, 1 h, 3 r, 3 er, 3 bb, 1 k), a likely IronPigs reliever who suffered the defeat. Toronto's top minor league spring team added an "insurance" run off of Yorman Bazardo (1.1 ip, 4 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 k) in the bottom of ninth inning (spring training rules).
Scoreless into the sixth inning, the Blue Jays' team scored two runs off of reliever Francisco Butto (2.0 ip, 1 h, 2 r, 2 er, 1 bb, 1 k) to take the first lead of the afternoon.
Jean Lopez (2 ip, 1 h, 2 k) started the game for the Phils team. Philadelphia 40-Man Roster member RHP Joe Bisenius -- who could return to Lehigh Valley in 2009 -- followed and pitched exceptional relief (2 ip, 2 h, 4 k). Potential 'Pigs closer Blaine Neal returned to form with a scoreless seventh inning (1 h, 1 k).
Phillies' 3B Pedro Feliz (3-6) led the team with three hits (also led in AB as he received extended work). DH Andy Tracy (2-3) had the lone home run as well as the team's only other multi-hit game. OF Chris Walker (1-3) had the other RBI and LF Mike Cervenak (1-3) scored the other run.
The Phillies' Triple-A Spring Training team (3-1) will look to return to the win column when they host the Pirates' Triple-A Spring Training team on Monday at Carpenter Complex in Clearwater.
