IRONPIGS CHARITIES ESTABLISHED
|
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs officially announced the formation of IronPigs Charities, a non-profit organization striving to provide educational and recreational opportunities for children in the Greater Lehigh Valley area. IronPigs Charities is a recognized 501(c) (3) non-profit organization on the state and federal level.
From this point forward, IronPigs Charities will serve as the fundraising arm of the IronPigs organization -- providing financial assistance to charitable local organizations helping underprivileged and disadvantaged youth and their families.
“The IronPigs organization takes great pride in giving back to the community,” said Sarah Marten, Director of Community Relations. “IronPigs charities will enhance the quality of life in the Lehigh Valley by supporting impactful programs that invest in youth and recreation based initiatives.”
Added IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes: “The establishment of IronPigs Charities is a defining moment for our franchise. We have a wonderful opportunity to provide significant assistance to local organizations that are making a difference in the lives of youth in the Lehigh Valley.”
The signature fundraising event of IronPigs Charities will be the Phillies Caravan, presented by The Air Products Foundation – an annual benefit dinner featuring Phillies players and personnel. This year’s Phillies Caravan will be held at DeSales University on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Highlights of the event include dinner and cocktail hour, silent and live auctions and a raffle featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and sports memorabilia. Tickets are $65.00 per adult or $550.00 for a table of nine. All proceeds will benefit IronPigs Charities.
Additional information, including featured Phillies players and speakers at the event, will be made available in the near future. To make a seat or table reservation, please call (610) 435-3001.
The IronPigs inaugural season, presented by Capital BlueCross, begins on April 3rd at PNC Field in Moosic, Pa., against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. The IronPigs return for Opening Day at Coca-Cola Park on April 11th at 7:05 p.m. against the reigning International League champion Richmond Braves.
